THE CHALLENGE

Extending the dining area without
creating obstructions

La Medina de Tetuán is a restaurant with Arab and Andalusian aromas, where tradition meets innovation. This concept of tradition + innovation fusion is not only reflected in the gastronomic offer, but also in the decoration and architecture. Proof of this is the commitment to Kauma when creating a spacious dining room. The fundamental premise was to create a completely open-plan space, without visual obstacles or anything that would hinder the arrangement of the tables. And that, furthermore, it would be suitable both in winter with cold gusts of wind and in summer with gentle sea breezes.

THE KAUMA SOLUTION

Four wide modules without intermediate pillars

To create the four wide modules without the need for intermediate pillars, the supporting beams had to be reinforced from above. With this solution, the wall anchoring and perimeter pillars provided a solid structure without any obstruction inside. The Nimbo pergola was complemented by perimeter lighting in each module to gently accompany diners during the evening.

The robust structure of the aluminium bioclimatic pergola makes it possible to hang glass curtains from it with the peace of mind that the system is capable of supporting the loads. On this occasion, La Medina de Tetuán opted for the Gravital 400 system, the frameless glass curtain system. This system is especially suitable for the hospitality industry as it does not create any type of obstacle on the floor. In this case, we positioned the parking areas at the ends of the Nimbo pergola so that they would not interfere with the mobility within the premises. In addition, we incorporated an integrated door, which folds away like another panel of the system, to facilitate access when the glass curtains are deployed.
